The very first 'You are the Legacy' Awards took place at Pride Park Stadium in Derby on Thursday 29th November 2012. It was to celebrate the work done by individuals and schools to ensure that young people benefit from the Legacy of the Olympic and Paralympic Games and to help bring the legacy to life. Ten individuals and three schools were presented with awards to recognise what they have done to go above and beyond over the past year. Nominations were received for the individuals and the winners were chosen by a judging panel based on the impact that individuals have made to school sports in inspiring young people. Emma Parker of Wyndham Primary academy won an individual award for the work she has done to bring the legacy of sport to life in her school. She was presented with her award by local Paralympian Leon Taylor.
